Join the Full-time Training

Fellowship to the Young People

We would like to take this opportunity to fellowship with you a few important matters regarding your preparation for the Full-time Training. Whether you are still in high school or in college, you should take these points seriously if you intend to participate in the Full-time Training.

Your Reasons for Coming to the Training

There is no better place for a seeking brother or sister in the Lord’s recovery than the Full-time Training.

You must possess a personal desire, no matter how weak it seems, to be perfected as a living, functioning, and overcoming member of the Body of Christ for the fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose. This is a training of the Lord’s recovery according to God’s economy; its goal is high and its standard is uncompromising. You must have a soft and sincere heart that is open to be trained. You should not join the training because your parents or serving ones want you to come, because your friends are coming, or because you need to “fix up” your spiritual life. Without question, the Full-time Training is a place of enjoyment and glory, but it is also a place of discipline and exposure. Although the benefit one can gain from being trained is inimitable and unlimited, the Full-time Training is not for everybody. Having said that, we are still strongly persuaded that there is no better place for a seeking brother or sister in the Lord’s recovery than the Full-time Training.

Living Your Life with the Training in View

The training’s goal is high and its standard is uncompromising. You must have a soft and sincere heart that is open to be trained.

If you intend to participate in the Full-time Training someday, we firstly encourage you to hand yourself over to the Lord, that is, to consecrate your life to Him and to His will. Doing this will ensure that the Training will have priority over your academic, professional, and personal goals. Such a consecration is in the principle of seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matt. 6:33). It will surely be honored and remembered by the Lord.

Secondly, sanctify your lifestyle from worldliness for the sake of the training; do not be conformed to this age. In particular, avoid any personal involvement or relationship with members of the opposite sex. This is in the principle of purifying yourself with the hope of being like the Lord when He is manifested one day (1 John 3:2-3).

Thirdly, thoroughly immerse yourself in the church life wherever you are. Like a plant nursery, the church life is a special environment that preserves and nurtures you humanly and spiritually, preparing you for the Full-time Training.

What to Read Before You Come

Read through the entire Bible… you will become someone who loves God’s word.

Firstly, read through the entire Bible. By reading the Bible routinely you will become someone who loves God’s word. We love the Word because in it we can meet the living Person of the Son of God.

Furthermore, reading the ministry during your high school and college years will lay in you a foundation of the apostles’ teaching which will allow you to reap the maximum benefit from the Training.

We suggest that you read the following ministry books:

  • The All-Inclusive Christ, Witness Lee
  • The Economy of God, Witness Lee
  • Young People’s Training, Witness Lee
  • Basic Lessons on Life, Witness Lee
  • A Young Man in God’s Plan, Witness Lee
  • A Brief Presentation of the Lord’s Recovery, Witness Lee
  • The Basic Revelation in the Holy Scriptures, Witness Lee
  • Character, Witness Lee
  • The Glorious Church, Watchman Nee

With proper scheduling you can easily finish in a few years and secure both a general idea of the contents of the Scriptures and a basic spiritual knowledge of the crucial items in the recovery. The ones serving on the college campuses could even help you to create a schedule to facilitate the completion of your reading. We strongly encourage you to participate in all the semi-annual trainings and other conferences either by attending live or by watching the messages on video. This will help you to develop a healthy appetite for the ministry and an appreciation for the high peak truths.

Financial Considerations

Putting aside something of your own for the Full-time Training is a strong indication of a serious attitude and commitment on your part.

If possible you should save up some money so that you can support yourself, in however small a way, while in the Training. A term of Training will cost some amount for registration and other fees, not including personal expenses. Although your sending church or your parents may be willing to help you financially, putting aside something of your own for the Full-time Training is a strong indication of a serious attitude and commitment on your part. Also, you should not incur unnecessary debt aside from student loans. As a young person, you should cultivate proper spending habits. You should learn to live within your means, neither borrowing nor squandering your money, but laying it aside for a divine and heavenly purpose. We even propose that you start a savings account dedicated for your financial needs while in the Full-time Training. Or, if that will affect the financial aid you might receive, your church may want to establish a Full-time Training fund to help save for future trainees. In any case, try not to be entangled or encumbered by the affairs of this life so that you can please the Lord who enlisted you in His army (2 Tim. 2:4).

A Foretaste of the Training

Trainings and conferences for college students can be very encouraging and can help you develop the desire to be perfected in the Full-time Training

While the Full-time Training in Malabon does not currently accept short-term enrollment for young people, there are other opportunities available to have a foretaste of training. A good opportunity not to be wasted by the college students is the 2-week collegian training held during summer vacation breaks. We highly encourage you to make this a regular part of your summer itinerary. During shorter school breaks, college conferences which last several days also take place in various locations. These trainings and conferences for college students can be very encouraging and can help you develop the desire to be perfected in the Full-time Training.

The 6-month Perfecting Training in Ozamiz (PTO) also helps young people to develop the taste for training. Many, if not a majority, of the young people who passed through this training not only became useful for the campus work in their schools, but also became more determined to finish their college education so that they could join the Full-time Training.

Fellowship with the serving saints and trainees in your locality to stay informed about such opportunities and about the Training.

A heart to Serve the Lord Full-time

Some of you may have been touched by the Lord to consider serving Him full-time for the rest of your life… we do encourage you to water that seed within you.

Some of you may have been touched by the Lord to consider serving Him full-time for the rest of your life. While such a desire is not a requirement for attending the Full-time Training—and must be subject to the tests of time, environment, and the Body—we do encourage you to water that seed within you. One of the burdens of the Training is to produce a generation of young people who will present their whole life to the work of the Lord’s recovery to spread His testimony throughout the earth for the consummation of this age.

If you have any questions about the Full-time Training, contact the responsible brothers in your locality or the Training office. May the Lord bless you, strengthen you, and ready you for the Training through your cooperation with Him in the coming days. It is our sincere hope in the Lord that we would see you in the Full-time Training. Grace be with your spirit.

Yours in Christ,
The Full-time Training brothers

A Letter to Graduating College Seniors

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

When such as we the King can choose,
To share with Him His throne,
‘Tis passing strange that we refuse
To be our Lord’s alone.
O never speak of sacrifice!
A privilege untold
Is to be His at any price,
In Calv’ry’s hosts enrolled.

– Hymns, #473

As the long-awaited day of your college graduation draws near, so also do the decisions that you will be forced to make concerning the direction of your life following your college years. We would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to participate in the Full-time Training.

The Full-time Training was established with the burden of helping those that attend to become normal, functioning members of the Body of Christ. The purpose of the Full-time Training is fourfold:

  1. To help the trainees grow in the divine life of Christ unto maturity
  2. To equip the trainees with the divine truths according to the Scriptures by the revelation of the Holy Spirit
  3. To cultivate in the trainees their spiritual function in preaching the gospel, nourishing young believers, perfecting the saints, and prophesying the Word of God for the building up of the Body of Christ
  4. To develop in the trainees a proper and uplifted character according to the humanity of Christ that is fit for the Lord’s use

The world will tell you that only fools would follow the Lord Jesus and serve Him… However, to the Lord and to those who see the eternal things, serving Him is the greatest privilege.

As a college senior, you are in the best position for planning to come to the full-time training upon graduation. Now is the time, while your life is free of encumbrances such as a job, marriage, and children, to give yourself to be trained and perfected to be a normal functioning member of the Body of Christ. By coming to the Full-time Training as a young person, you will reap maximum benefit, as the Lord will honor and remember your faithful seeking of His kingdom as your first priority. Student loans and graduate school can both be deferred. With a long-term view, two years of your time given to the Lord now is not too much. The world will tell you that only fools would follow the Lord Jesus and serve Him, and that time spent in the Full-time Training would be a waste. However, to the Lord and to those who see the eternal things, serving Him is the greatest privilege. God has called each one of us to accomplish His eternal purpose. To sacrifice your time to rise up and cooperate with Him for His move on this earth is a most reasonable response to His call, and many will testify that it can afford the greatest joy on earth.

We strongly encourage you to enroll in the Full-time Training for the coming term. Please pray and consecrate yourself to the Lord for this. If you have any further questions, please contact the leading brothers in your locality or the FTT-Malabon office. We look forward to seeing you here and to being blended together to experience the reality of the Body of Christ.

Your brothers in Christ,
The training brothers
